Advantages of Workout Exercises

To quote a clichéd phrase, ‘health is wealth’. This is never been truer than with this generation – which is getting more and more reasons to stay at home and not undergo any bodily and physical strain. We have been wondering for years how the people of ancient times had such long lifespans and even immunity as compared to us, even though we have surpassed them in breakthroughs of science and medicine. The answer lies in their lifestyle.

In ancient times, people used to do more manual labor than us. A farmer would spend the entire day at his field; a carpenter would spend the entire day in his workshed, doing this, and doing that, a potter would vigorously stoke the fire to make clay, so on and so forth. Sadly, this is just the past for us now, people who are accustomed to air conditioned offices and clicking away on the computer. Of course, this does not mean that we should throw away our computers, televisions and technologies and go back to the farms – we should just ensure that we are as physically and mentally fit and alert as our ancestors – and we can do that with the right kind of physical activity – a workout exercise. Here are some advantages of workout exercises that we do not quite think about.

Increased Pain Immunity:

When you are working out, you are basically straining your body muscles to their most optimum levels. This may also cause the body muscles to work vigorously, thereby causing you pain. However, because your body muscles have now been used in tandem, you might experience a slight increase in your pain immunity.

Healthier Skin:

When you exercise, your muscles and body work, and this cause your skin to sweat. This constant sweating causes the skin pores to open up, which result in a better looking, healthier skin. Taking this into consideration, there may be a question whether air conditioned gymnasiums allow the skin to sweat – to which the answer is yes. The air conditioning only cools the surrounding atmosphere, but does not do anything to the muscles that are working in the body, which basically generate the sweat.

Increased Respiratory System:

When you exercise, almost all of your bodily functions are taxed, and so is the respiratory system. When you exercise, your muscles and other parts of the body require more resources, oxygen being one of them – which causes your breathing to become faster and deeper – which causes more oxygen to be pumped into your body. You will notice the advantages when your ‘out of breath’ experiences are decreased by a lot.

Decreased Toxicity:

This might be quite common knowledge for those who have undergone detoxification, but the right amount of exercise and work outs increase your body temperature, which in turn causes the harmful toxins in your body to burn out. This plays a very important part in improving the general health of an individual.

These are just some of the advantages of a good work out and exercise. Of course, there are several other advantages of a workout, depending on your lifestyle, health issues and other aspects.

There’s no easier way to add a dose of nutrition to your day than by crunching on a tasty apple. You probably first experienced its delightful flavor as a baby, when applesauce introduced you to real food. And now, whether it’s a Granny Smith, a McIntosh, or a Red Delicious, you think of apples as old friends. Grown throughout the world, apples are high in fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. They’re fat-free, cholesterol-free, and low in sodium. In short, eating apples is a smart part of a healthy lifestyle.

6 ways apples keep you healthy

Regulates your day.

You don’t have to worry about staying regular anymore. Whether your problem is visiting the bathroom too often or not often enough, apples can help.

A British researcher, Dr. D.P Burkitt, believes one of the easiest ways to prevent all sorts of illnesses, is to avoid constipation. He calls the diseases caused by chronic constipation “pressure diseases.” Appendicitis, diverticular diseases, hemorrhoids, hiatal hernias, and even varicose veins can all be caused by straining to pass small, hard stools.

Just one apple with its skin contains 4 to 5 grams of fiber – the most important nutrient in keeping your bowels working like a well-oiled machine. Keeping yourself regular without relying on harmful laxatives could be as easy as replacing that afternoon snack of potato chips or cookies with a crisp, delicious apple. And think of the calories you’ll save. The average apple has about 80 calories while a serving of chips weighs in at 150 calories and you’ll get about 200 from just a few cookies.

But that’s not all apples can do. They’re also good for diarrhea, thanks to an ingredient called pectin. This carbohydrate has a congealing effect in your intestines that helps firm things up and return you to normal. Applesauce is actually the best apple product for diarrhea, since it’s made without the high.-fiber skin. But watch out for extra sugar. Some brands of applesauce dump a truckload of sweeteners into an otherwise healthy food, and too much refined sugar could make your diarrhea worse.

Keeps your body young.

By now you know antioxidants can protect you from many of the diseases that seem to be a part of aging. In fact, so many people are taking supplements for antioxidant protection that it’s become a multibillion-dollar industry. But the evidence is mounting that whole foods can do more for you than pills.

When scientists compared a 1,500-milligram vitamin C supplement to one small apple, the results were astounding – the antioxidant values were equal. That means a fresh apple has more than 15 times the antioxidant power of the recommended daily dose of vitamin C. And that’s just for starters. The researchers also found an ordinary apple was able to stop the growth of colon and liver cancer cells in test tubes. Unpeeled apples were especially effective. The question you need to ask yourself: Why waste money on flavorless supplements when you can get better antioxidant firepower from a sweet, crunchy fruit?
Cuts your risk of heart disease. Sometimes it’s hard to remember which food is good for which part of your body. The next time you pick up an apple, examine it carefully. It’s shaped a bit like a heart – and that should help you remember apples are good for your heart.

It’s the magnesium and potassium in apples that help regulate your blood pressure and keep your heart beating steadily, and it’s the flavonoid quercetin, a naturally occurring antioxidant, that protects your artery walls from damage and keeps your blood flowing smoothly.

In fact adding flavonoid-rich foods like apples to your diet has been scientifically confirmed to lower your risk of heart disease. There’s proof of this in a study of Japanese women who ate foods high in quercetin. They were less likely to get coronary heart disease than other women and they had lower levels of total and LDL, or bad, cholesterol.

Strikes at the heart of strokes.

Apples are even a smart choice for helping avoid strokes. Scientists aren’t sure which ingredient in this multi-talented fruit to credit, but the connection is clear – people who regularly eat apples are less likely to have strokes than people who don’t.

Protects your joints.

In areas of the world where fruits and vegetables make up a large part of the diet, very few people get arthritis. Compare this to modernized countries where fruits and vegetables have been replaced with fast, processed food and you’ll find up to 70 percent of the population suffers from some form of arthritis. Just a coincidence? Not according to nutrition experts. They link this trend in part to boron, a trace mineral many plants, including apples, absorb from the soil.

If you eat like most people, you’ll get about 1 to 2 milligrams (mg) of boron a day, mostly from non-citrus fruits, leafy vegetables, and nuts. Experts believe, however, you need anywhere from 3 to 10 mg a day to affect your risk of arthritis. To boost your boron intake to this level, you’d have to eat more than nine apples a day.

This is probably an unreasonable amount for most people, but don’t despair. Pair an apple with other boron-rich foods like a few tablespoons of peanut butter and a large handful of raisins, and you’ll not only have a delicious afternoon snack, but you’ll make your joint-saving quota of boron at the same time.
Helps you breathe deeply. Your lungs are assaulted every day by cigarette smoke, air pollution, pollen, and other air-borne nasties.

On top of that perhaps you suffer from asthma, emphysema, or similar lung condition. If all you want to do is take a deep breath, then grab an apple.
A five-year study of more than 2,500 men from Wales found those who ate five or more apples per week were able to fill their lungs with more air than men who didn’t eat apples. Experts believe you might be getting some special protection from the antioxidant quercetin. Unfortunately, eating apples can’t reverse a lung condition you already have, but you just might add a new line of defense against further damage.

Pantry pointers

Buy apples that are unbruised, firm, and have good color. Take them out of their plastic bag and store them in your refrigerator – loose in the produce bin or in a paper bag is best. And since they will absorb odors, keep them away from strong-smelling foods like garlic and onions.

Being fit and healthy is the in thing. Actually, it really never goes out of style. That body is the most valuable asset you could have in your lifetime. Thus it is important that you take good care of it. Give it the proper attention it needs.

When it comes to ensuring and maintaining the health, the best option is to do cardio training.

What Is Cardio Training?

Cardio training involves any activity that requires the use of the large muscle groups of the body in a regular and uninterrupted manner. It elevates the heart rate between 60 to 85 percent of the fastest heart rate you could get.

Some of the usual cardio training activities are walking, jogging, running, aerobics, cycling, tae bo, swimming and rowing. Cardio training is considered an aerobic exercise as one is required to move from one exercise to another.

What Are the Benefits of Training?

1. Gives Energy to the Body

You can expect more energy and higher endurance after some time of regular cardio training.

2. Prevents Diseases

One could prevent heart diseases with regular cardio training. It is also helpful in preventing other variety of diseases like diabetes, obesity and even high cholesterol. The cardiovascular training strengthens the heart and the lungs. The low to moderated type of cardio exercises are required for people seeking to prevent diseases. Examples of these are walking, brisk walking or jogging.

3. Control Your Weight

With cardio training, you are able to burn more calories. This will help one who needs to lose weight. While those who already achieved their ideal body mass, the training will make it easier to control the weight.

Cardio training helps burn calories. However this generally depends on your current weight and the kind of cardio training you are undergoing. Better consult this matter with your physician or trainer, to know the proper type of training for your needs.

4. Lose Body Fats

Some people do not have problem with their weights. However, there may be some excess fats that keep bothering. Cardio training will help in getting rid of those. The activities involve the movements of large muscle groups. Regularly doing the training will make you leaner.

5. Get Rid of Boredom

Cardio training is fun. It pumps up your system. You will definitely feel more energized and on the go.

Recommendations to Better Enjoy the Benefits of Cardio Training

Cardio training is essential when you need to make health improvements. For starters, it is best to do the 30 to 45 minutes of exercises, 3 to 5 days a week. If you are aiming for weight loss, the training must be done 5 days a week. The more frequent you do it; the more likely it is that you will lose weight. However, avoid exhausting yourself too much in exercise. Avoid going beyond 45 minutes. Remember, it has to be done in a regular basis.

Start now. Walk or ride the bike around the neighborhood now. Follow that aerobics video you purchased. Set a goal and follow that goal. At the same time, modify your diet too. Eat healthy food.

As you increase in the fitness level, the intensity of the training must also increase. This is to have an area of variation and there should always be room for improvement. Implement this by intensifying some parts of the training. If you are into jogging or running, increase speed every 5 minutes for at least a minute or two. It is important that you challenge yourself, so as not to be stuck in a stump.

Avoid doing the cardio exercises before bedtime. You will have a difficult time sleeping if you do so as the energy level of the body will stay high for sometime.

If you are undergoing weight training too, do the cardio exercises right after, not before.

It is best to take a snack 30 minutes before doing the cardio exercises. Do not start with training in an empty stomach. This will not help in achieving the proper momentum when you train. At the same time, avoid indulging in large meals too before exercise. Just give your body the proper supply it will need to sustain exhausting movements.

It is good to do the cardio exercises outdoors. This way you can easily interact with nature and breathe fresh air. You can also simply enjoy going around the neighborhood as you get your system healthier by the minute. It is possible to make some friends among the people who also do their exercises.

Be consistent and stick with the training once you have started it. This is the only way that cardio training will benefit your body and your health in the long run.

There are so many fad diets out there, how do you choose? In today’s world we are bombarded with so many different medical experts telling us which diet to use now to “finally achieve that weight loss you have been working on so hard”. How do you know who to trust and what to look for to realize your health and weight loss goals?

There is NO such thing as a lose weight quick method that will be the answer to your weight issues! Fad diets are not to be followed. Look out for the following 5 red flags:

1. No physical activity required! Your body needs the physical activity along with diet modifications in order to be healthy. This is something that is essential for any weight loss program or health promotion program and should not be ignored by what fad diets offer.

2. This will make those pounds melt off! Losing weight fast is not healthy and can adversely affect your body. Weight loss through healthy measures should be your goal because it allows your entire life to be transformed with more energy and can help you prevent disease. A weight loss of 0.5-2 lbs per week is healthy.

3. This supplement, drink, etc will be the answer to all your weight loss issues! There is no such thing of something that just melts the fat away. Look for safer alternatives.

4. Limit your food intake to these foods only and you will lose that stubborn weight! Why do you want to limit yourself on what you can eat? A weight loss program is hard enough as it is, don’t limit the kind of food you can have. There are so many health foods out there that can create amazing meals, why would you limit your food intake when you can just eat a wide array of healthy, whole foods?

5. If you eat a ton of this food and that food, you will drop 4 sizes!Eating too much of a certain food is boring and it can be dangerous! Everything in moderation is what your body needs!

Fad diets all promise that you will lose the weight quick and the above 5 issues are reasons why these diets should be avoided. How do you feel about that? Sure, we all want to lose that weight and look thin again but are these fad diets really the answer?

The most important thing to remember is whenever you decide to lose weight, you are affecting your health. By losing weight you can prevent yourself from certain diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. That should be your focus to losing weight.

Wouldn’t you rather make changes that can fit in any lifestyle, offer unlimited food choices, helps you lose weight, AND prevent disease? You can have all this by just adopting an overall healthy lifestyle. It is not about losing weight quick, its about becoming healthy which will enable you to do the things you are missing out on and at the same time feel better about yourself.

So what should you be looking to for your weight loss program? You should look more at adopting healthy eating patterns such as switching to whole wheat pasta, bread, flour, as well as focusing on fruits, vegetables, lean meats, olive oil, and healthy nuts. By eating healthy in this manner, you will feel more energized, sleep better, and all around feel better about yourself. Plus, there are so many different meal options with eating healthy and with whole foods that it is not possible to get bored!

So get out there and get creative with your meals, add some simple physical activity to your daily life like playing with the kids at the park or taking the dog for a walk, and you will not only see your weight falling off, but your whole life will be more enjoyable!
